"Make a difference in the heart of Brazil"
Dear All,
I'm taking part in the Bobby Moore Fund's Project Brazil in September to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK and would really welcome your support. The trip has two objectives - firstly to raise funds to help tackle bowel cancer here in the UK, and secondly to renovate a remote village school in Brazil. I am aiming to raise a minimum of £4,000.
The project will involve an 11 day trip to renovate a remote school and a football pitch and will be developed in partnership with the local population - it will give the children and their parents the chance to continue their education in their own village, close to their families, rather than being obliged to move away. The projects are based on the success of previous projects which have raised over £1/2 million for bowel cancer research in UK and left lasting legacies for the wonderful local communities in South America & South Africa.
The project will take place in one of the poorest and most remote villages in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. It is also an area of outstanding natural beauty, spilling over with massive waterfalls and capped by awesome sunrises and sunsets. The area was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.
The team will spend several days working on the project and on the final day there will be a 'handover ceremony' to the Brazilian community. The next day the team will be transferred to a local town for a football match against an official Brazilian team, where a trophy and medals will be awarded to the winning team followed by a celbration dinner.
Please take a moment to sponsor me and help tackle bowel cancer. It's really easy - you can donate online by credit or debit card.
